Village of Sparta issued the following announcement on Sept. 12.
PUBLIC NOTICE:
VILLAGE OF SPARTA VILLAGE WIDE LEAF PICK UP FOR FALL 2019 IS SCHEDULED TO START MONDAY, OCTOBER 14 THROUGH THE END OF NOVEMBER OR FIRST HEAVY SNOW FALL, WHICH EVER IS EARLIER.
Residents are asked to rake their leaves into piles between the curb and sidewalk or area next to the street if there is no curb or sidewalk. Please rake leaves early to ensure they are pickup up prior to the above deadlines occurring.
PLEASE DO NOT RAKE LEAVES INTO THE STREETS.
If you put your leaves in the street you will be asked to remove them. If you mix PET WASTE, GRASS CLIPPINGS, BRUSH, OR TRASH, in your leaves they will NOT be picked up. If you prefer an alternative to the Village picking up your leaves you may bring them to the Village Garage at 276 W. Division behind the DPW building. If you choose to bring them to the garage, please REMOVE them from plastic bags.
Please do not park in front of the leaf piles near the street if you can avoid it.
THIS IS A LEAF PICK-UP ONLY. PLEASE DO NOT SET OUT BRUSH, ROOTS, STUMPS, GRASS OR GARDEN WASTE AS THE LEAF VACUUM CAN NOT ACCEPT THESE ITEMS.
