VILLAGE OF SPARTA: Sharing on behalf of the The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services

Mosquito1

Village of Sparta issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.

A recently deceased horse from Kent County has tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). This horse was located in southern Solon Township near Algoma Avenue and 17 Mile Road and developed symptoms on September 29th. This case brings the statewide total to 39 animal and 10 human cases. This new information does not change any public health recommendations and does not tell us anything new - the EEE virus is present and people should take reasonable precautions to avoid mosquitoes. The state is not planning to do any additional aerial spraying at this time. Those plans may, however, change as new information becomes available. For more information please visit the state's website: https://www.michigan.gov/…/0,4579,7-186-76711_77442---,00.h…
