KENT DISTRICT LIBRARY: We will miss you, Loretta!

Retirement happy 1000x667

Kent District Library issued the following announcement on June 10.

After 23 years working at the Wyoming Branch, Loretta, a Circulation Assistant, will be retiring from KDL on July 2. We sure are going to miss her!

Loretta, also known at Ret, calls the Wyoming Branch her "home away from home." She is looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren, but will dearly miss her co-workers and patrons.

"We had so much fun over the years," said Loretta. "I love watching the reaction of patrons when you tell them about all the things KDL has to offer."

Loretta's favorite KDL programs are Touch a Truck and Ruff Readers.

Karen, Loretta's boss, said patrons seek Loretta out by name and love "razzing" back and forth with her. She is close to many customers, and even brought in a butterfly bush for one particular patron. Loretta has also been a go-to person for many new staff members through the years.

"Loretta brings kindness, generosity and an evil streak of playing jokes on her co-workers and supervisor!" said Karen. "She has wrapped a truck completely in Saran Wrap, filled an office five feet deep with balloons (more than once), built a nest out of twigs and straw that was about 4 feet wide and placed it on her desk because someone had become an empty nester, stuffed creepy doll heads in people's lockers and played many more devious pranks that kept everyone laughing."

We wish Loretta all the best in this next chapter of life!
