Recipients for small business grants in Kent County were announced in August. | Stock Photo
Kent County Board of Commissioners Chair Mandy Bolter and Administrator Wayman Britt, along with Grand Rapids Chamber Vice President of Talent and Business Development Dante Villarreal, announced grant recipients for the Kent County Small Business Recovery Program in August.
This was the first round of grant recipients, with more rounds to come, according to a press release from the Grand Rapids Chamber. Grants were awarded for $5,000, $10,000, $15,000 and $20,000 to small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kent County is the fourth-largest county in the state of Michigan, according to Grand Rapids Chamber. It provides a variety of services to its 650,000 residents, in addition to making sure businesses have the assistance they need from after the pandemic-related shutdowns. The Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce has led the area’s business community to expansion, with strong leadership, influence and information for growth. Of the 2,500 businesses the chamber serves, 80% are small businesses. More information on the Chamber can be found at Grand Rapids Chamber.
