CITY OF WALKER: American Legion Post 1111 Hosts Open House

Opn

City of Walker issued the following announcement on Sept. 23.

The American Legion Post 1111, Department of Michigan, will host an Open House to welcome all veterans and their families Saturday, October 3rd, 2020.

This event will be held at Walker City Hall in the City Commission Chambers, located at 4243 Remembrance Rd NW, in Walker Michigan. It will be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served.

An Accredited State Service Officer will be present during the Open House to help ANY veteran with V.A. questions and/or claims. If you, or someone you know, has a current claim and it has not been reviewed recently, this would be a great time to do so as benefits change from time to time.

Please remember to bring:

• DD Form 214 (Issued at separation)

• Service medical records (outpatient), dental records, entrance and separation examination reports

• Inpatient hospitalization records (private or military)

• Private outpatient medical records (if applicable)

• Personnel file

• Line of Duty (LOD) investigation reports

• Overseas or temporary duty (travel) orders a copy of your DD-214, or discharge papers, with you.

If you are unable to attend the Open House during this time but need assistance with a V.A. claim to receive benefits or filing paperwork, please contact the post. The American Legion Post 1111 can provide information, referrals, and resources to assist veterans in a variety of ways: employment, housing, transportation to V.A. appointments, education resources, and death benefits.

Masks are required and the meeting will be following CDC guidelines regarding COVIS-19.
