City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.
You may have heard there is an election coming up on November 3. All citizens have the right to vote one of two ways. You can vote in person on election day, or you can request an absentee ballot and vote that way. You may have heard absentee voting called vote by mail, vote from home or early voting. Absentee votes all get counted on Election Day. If you would like an absentee ballot you just need to request one from your local clerk, if you live in the city limits, you can request one from our clerk. If you live in a township, you need to request one from your township clerk. Or you can request one online using the Secretary of States website. Once you have completed your ballot make sure you sign the green return envelope in the signature spot. You can then mail your ballot back to your local clerk, drop it off in person or put it in a drop box. If you use a drop box, make sure you are using the correct drop box for where you live. If you aren't sure where you need to return your ballot, the address of where it needs to go is printed on the green return envelope. Once your clerk receives your ballot they will check it in and your vote will be counted on Election Day. You can track the entire process from when your clerk received your application (you do need to send an application before every election in order for us to send you a ballot), when your ballot was sent and when your ballot was received, online using the Secretary of States website: https://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-1633---,00.html
