City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.
Starting Monday, November 23, City Hall and all municipal buildings will be open by appointment only due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Kent County.
Residents are encouraged to access many of our City services at https://www.rockford.mi.us or calling City Hall at 616-866-1537. City Hall employees will be working remotely and are available during normal business hours. All essential services (water, sewer, police and fire, yard waste removal, etc…) will remain in place. If you have a water or sewer emergency please call 616-866-9557. If you have a police or fire emergency, please call 911.
Utility bill payments may be made using our drop box, located outside the front door of City Hall, or mailed. We also offer online payments; however, convenience fees do apply. Residents can also register for no-fee auto payments via a checking account. Autopay customers will still receive a bill in the mail, and the payment is automatically taken out of their account on the due date.
City Council and all board and commission meetings will continue to meet via Zoom. Proper notification will be made prior to these meetings. If you have comments or concerns for the City Council or any municipal board that you want placed on the public record, please email our City Clerk at bedfordc@rockford.mi.us.
This action is being taken out of an abundance of caution and to help keep residents and our staff safe. We are committed to doing what we can to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Please follow local, state and federal health guidelines, including wearing a face covering when you leave your home, washing your hands regularly and practicing safe physical distancing.
The City’s management team is meeting daily to monitor the pandemic and make operational decisions based on guidance from the health department.
Thank you for your continued partnership during this challenging time
