VILLAGE OF SPARTA: Fire Hydrant Flushing and Maintenance

Fire hydrant 1480355627g84

Village of Sparta issued the following announcement on Dec. 7.

The Village of Sparta will be conducting the annual spring Hydrant Flushing and Maintenance Program beginning December 14, 2020 weather permitting. Not knowing if weather will cooperate we have a tentative end date of December 18, 2020.

During this time you may notice an occasional decrease in water pressure and possibly some slight cloudiness in the water. Most residents will see no change in their water supply. If you should notice a change in the appearance of your water, simply let the water run until it clears, usually within several minutes.

There is no cause for concern with respect to the safety of your water supply and the Village performs this service twice a year to maintain a safe, reliable and abundant supply of water for our residents. This program also ensures that the Fire Hydrants in our Village are operating correctly and available for use in an emergency.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dennis Brinks – DPW Supervisor, at the Village of Sparta, at 887-9303.
