Michigan now has more residents who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine than there are positive COVID-19 test results.

As of Jan. 20, just over 598,00 Michiganders had been vaccinated against the coronavirus, Michigan Capitol Confidential reported.

The state has also reported that a total of almost 595,000 residents have contracted the virus since the beginning of the pandemic. Worldmeters.info also offers the number of Michigan resident deaths due to the coronavirus (14,951 as of Jan. 22) and the number of those who have recovered from the coronavirus (442,408 as of Jan. 22).

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, between February and December, for every confirmed positive COVID-19 test in the country, there are likely 4.6 more people who were infected but never took a test because they had mild symptoms. This is important to note in order to understand how much higher case numbers could be than what is being reported.
