City of Rockford recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Rockford provides a curbside yard waste collection program for our residents and is intended to provide taxpayers within the City limits a means to dispose of normal yard waste. Twice a month we offer a chipping service for branches that are too big for a yard waste bag. Land clearing, large tree removal, or work done by a contractor, does not qualify for the City's yard waste collection program.
If you live on the east side of the river, your chipping days are the 1st & 3rd Monday of the month. If you live on the west side of the river your chipping days are on the 2nd & 4th Monday of the month. If there is a month with a 5th Monday, there will not be any chipping done that week. This Monday (8/23) we will be chipping on the west side of the river. The next chipping day for residents who live on the east side of the river will be Tuesday (9/7) due to the labor day holiday.
