JOB DESCRIPTION
Facility Services
This position identifies, coordinates and completes routine maintenance of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, security, and general upkeep of Courtland Township buildings, parks and grounds. Responsibilities include determining job priorities and seeing that work is completed in an efficient manner while exercising analytical judgement in identifying and resolving problems. They would be responsible for the facilities, grounds, equipment and furnishings of the township buildings to ensure a professional, clean, safe and healthy environment.
REPORTS TO: Township Supervisor
SUPERVISES: Typically, there is no supervisory responsibilities
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
● Care and maintenance of the assigned facilities. Paint, repair and refurbish fixtures, signs, equipment and other miscellaneous items as needed.
● Prioritizes, assigns and performs ongoing preventive maintenance and minor repair on plumbing, electrical, ventilation, building structure and hardware.
● Maintains an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
● Oversees and assists with building exterior maintenance including lawn mowing, shoveling snow and maintaining all grounds, sports fields and equipment. Inspect, and monitor landscape, grounds maintenance and contractors.
● Maintains work-related records and prepares various reports as directed.
● Observe and enforce safety precautions and safety rules and regulations; maintain work areas in a clean, safe and orderly condition; operate maintenance equipment as required.
● Gather and dispose of debris, wood, trash, limbs, weeds, grass, trees, shrubs, plants and dead animals.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position usually performs manual work of an unskilled nature. Work consists of assisting staff in the maintenance and repair of Courtland Township infrastructure, buildings, grounds and facilities. This position may also perform semi-skilled mechanical labor.
To succeed in this role applicants will need to effectively communicate to people inside and outside the organization and demonstrate self-awareness. We are looking for a team member that can prioritize requests and responsibilities with accuracy and in safety.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education equivalent to a high school diploma.
2. A minimum of six months of general maintenance or related experience.
3. Proficiency with current computer software systems, including email, calendar programs.
4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of hand tools and power tools. Ability to establish good working relationships. Ability to understand mechanical systems and processes.
5. Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous laboring tasks under varying weather conditions. Ability to lift and move 75 pounds.
2. Willingness to work manual labor under adverse environmental conditions.
3. Subject to frequently changing walking surfaces.
4. Frequent and/or prolonged bending, stooping, standing, pulling, pushing, or reaching.
5. Occasionally works at heights of 10 feet above ground.
6. Subject to inclement weather conditions.
7. Subject to fumes and disagreeable odors.
8. Subject to high levels of noise for an extended period of time.
9. Other duties as assigned.
