Special Election to Fill Three Vacant Seats in the Michigan House of Representatives

Town hall

City of Walker issued the following announcement on Dec 14.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced this week that there will be a special election to fill three vacant seats in the Michigan House of Representatives. These vacancies are caused by the election of Representatives Douglas Wozniak and Mark Huizenga, who previously represented the 36th and 74th Districts, to the Michigan State Senate and the passing of Representative Andrea Schroeder, who represented the 43rd District.

This partial-term election is also needed due to redistricting, which will potentially change the district boundary lines.

This special election will be on March 1, 2022, with the general election to be on May 3, 2022.

The Walker Clerk's Office will be mailing absentee ballot applications out as soon as possible. Please sign and return them immediately so your ballot can be mailed to you.

For questions, email elections@walker.city or call 616-791-6865.
