2021/2022 Annual Meeting + Business of Distinction Awards

Rockford Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Jan 24.

The Rockford Chamber of Commerce hosted the Annual Meeting of the Membership on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Thousand Oaks with 130 guests in attendance. It was a night filled with entertainment, great food, presentations, awards and a celebration of 60 years being incorporated.

President Mark Roach kicked off the night by welcoming all guests and introducing Board Members, Ambassadors, and committee members. Following that, emcees Curtis Avison and Theodore Sees were introduced and brought forth a great show. The Board meeting took place after dinner where the following board members were elected for 3-year terms; Mark Roach – Rockford Footwear Depot, Jason Rop – Blakeslee Rop, PLC, Blaine Kellermeier – Kellermeier Plumbing, LLC, Michael McGovern – United Wealth Management and Stephen Seger – Seger Tax & Accounting.

Jeff Lewis took the stage with Event Coordinator, Megan Dean, to present the Years in Review, which highlighted events, memories and accomplishments from 2020 and 2021. The Chamber reached a record amount of members in 2021 with 376 members which attendees celebrated with a champagne toast.

The Business of Distinction Awards Winners were also announced at the Annual Meeting. The following are the winners of the 2021 Business of Distinction Awards:

  • Volunteer of the Year: Michael McGovern with United Wealth Management
  • Networker of the Year: Tim Matusak with Young Insurance Agency
  • New Business of the Year: Graff Rockford (Lon & Tracy Keely)
  • Business of the Year: Meijer, Rockford (Christopher Schwandt)
A new award was presented this year as well; The Dr. Michael S. Shibler Community Service Award was awarded to Tom and Tracie Rich with RE/MAX United for going above and beyond serving the Rockford Community. Dr. Shibler described RE/MAX United as the most deserving business for the Community Service Award and notes it is an honor for this to be the first one awarded in his name.
