City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Feb 23.
This past weekend PSO Ian Graham, PSO Pam Vredevoogd and MDOC Agent Sean Wheeler anchored the Rockford Public Safety team at the 2022 Grand Rapids Polar Plunge.
The plunge was held at the LMCU Ballpark and, despite frigid temperatures, was a huge success. Rockford Public Safety raised over $12,000 as a team, earning the “Most Money Raised by a Law Enforcement Agency” award. The event has raised over $122,000, and counting, for the athletes of Special Olympics Michigan. The Grand Rapids Polar Plunge is a Law Enforcement Torch Run event organized by Agent Wheeler and PSO Graham. All funds raised go to benefit the 23,000 athletes of Special Olympics Michigan and help to make participation and equipment free for athletes.
The next major LETR event will be the Rockford Fire Truck pull during Rockford’s Start of Summer Celebration in June.
