Hank the Sheriff's Office Horse

The KCSO is sad to announce the death of one of our cherished Sheriff's Office horses, Hank.  Earlier this week, Hank began to show symptoms of Potomac Horse Fever,  a bacterial disease.  Although he fought hard, it was too much for his body's immune system.

The members of our Mounted Unit will always remember him as "Hank the Tank".  A gentle giant with a distinguished "L" on his forehead. He was incredible with kids and undeniably a unit favorite!  Hank has been with the KCSO since 2017 and came to us from Asbury University in Lexington, Kentucky.  He was an 8.5-year-old Percheron/Thoroughbred cross gelding.

Our Mounted Unit members work with our horses all the time and are especially saddened by Hank's passing. To the team, thank you for all you do to keep our community safe through your work with these great horses.
