Connie Geer is seeking the Republican nomination to serve as a Montcalm Township Trustee for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on August 6.

Per Montcalm County's unofficial candidate list, Geer is facing Brian J. Cousineau and Edward J. Hansen in the GOP primary. Voters may choose up to two candidates.

In a Q&A with the Daily News, Geer, who is retired, said she feels qualified to serve as trustee and ensure everyone's opinions and voices are heard. She felt she could work towards compromises for everyone involved in a situation.

With regard to her goals if she is elected, Geer told the Daily News, "I want to make this a better community for all of us. I think It would be wonderful to get more people to attend the meetings and have their voices heard. I really want to clean up this township, we have so much junk in people’s yards it’s out of control. We need a bit more work on the cemetery. We have a few that need work. I would really like to see this community come back together."

In a press release, Private Property Rights PAC — a political action committee whose "mission is to safeguard and promote the ownership and control of private property" — endorsed Geer, stating that she "has demonstrated a profound commitment to the principles of property rights and governance that respect the rights of individual property owners" and praising her stance against government overreach.

Private Property Rights PAC Senior Adviser Madeline Morris expressed confidence in Geer's commitment to private property rights and government transparency and accountability, predicting that she "will help protect the foundational rights that are vital to personal freedom and economic stability" in Montcalm Township.

The Montcalm Township Board comprises two trustees.

According to the Michigan Townships Association, township trustees act as township legislators and are required to vote on all issues. They are also responsible for the fiduciary health of the township and for carrying out any other duties assigned by the township board. Trustees are elected to four-year terms.
