Ronda L. Snyder is seeking the Republican nomination to serve as Douglass Township Clerk for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on August 6.

Per Montcalm County's unofficial candidate list, Snyder is running in the GOP primary against Holly Huff.

Snyder revealed that she was previously appointed as Township Clerk in 2014 and was re-elected twice. She served until November 2022.

In a Q&A with the Daily News, Snyder also shared that she has owned her own business since 1996.

"I never had a negative post election audit [...] When I started my appointment, I actively searched for classes that I could take that would help me with that appointment and I showed up and worked hard to learn from those classes," she said about her service prior to being Douglass Township clerk. "I took all of the required classes and earned my accreditation to run the elections for the township. Some of those elections had five different ballot styles and I worked with my deputy to make sure the election went smoothly and that every vote counted. I am a very organized person and while in office I worked hard with the assistance of my clerk to get the office organized and to make sure the retention dates were used for all of the township’s records."

She said that, as Douglass Township Clerk, she plans "to work with the township residents to get an outcome that serves all of the property owners or renters in the township."

In a press release, Private Property Rights PAC — a political action committee whose "mission is to safeguard and promote the ownership and control of private property" — endorsed Snyder, stating that she "has demonstrated a profound commitment to the principles of property rights and governance that respect the rights of individual property owners" and praising her stance against government overreach.

Private Property Rights PAC Senior Adviser Madeline Morris expressed confidence in Snyder's commitment to private property rights and government transparency and accountability, predicting that she "will help protect the foundational rights that are vital to personal freedom and economic stability" in Douglass Township.

According to the Michigan Townships Association, the township clerk's responsibilities include maintaining custody of all township records, maintaining the general ledger, recording and maintaining township meeting minutes, maintaining the voter registration file, conducting elections, and preparing financial statements. Clerks are elected to four-year terms.
