Terry J. Anderson is seeking the Republican nomination to serve as Douglass Township Supervisor for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on August 6.
On the Montcalm County's unofficial candidate list, Anderson is running in the GOP primary against Cindy Shick.
In a Q&A with the Daily News, Anderson revealed that he has more than three decades of service as a Douglass Township Supervisor. He said that during that time, he "worked as part of a team to address, manage and handle a variety of township issues." Anderson has owned and operated his own business for more than 40 years.
Anderson said his goal "is to help the board go back to a well-run township. Under my supervision, the board will successfully maintain roads and help move forward with other important projects."
In a press release, Private Property Rights PAC — a political action committee whose "mission is to safeguard and promote the ownership and control of private property" — endorsed Anderson, stating that he "has demonstrated a profound commitment to the principles of property rights and governance that respect the rights of individual property owners" and praising his stance against government overreach.
Private Property Rights PAC Senior Adviser Madeline Morris expressed confidence in Anderson's commitment to private property rights and government transparency and accountability, predicting that he "will help protect the foundational rights that are vital to personal freedom and economic stability" in Douglass Township.
According to the Michigan Townships Association, the township supervisor's responsibilities include moderating board and annual meetings, acting as the township's legal agent, developing the township's budget, and appointing some commission members. Supervisors are elected to four-year terms.
