In this timely novel by Chandler Baker, four women who work as lawyers at a large company learn that their boss, a notorious harasser, is up for the promotion of CEO. They decide to add his name to a secret list of men who have harassed women that is getting passed around through e-mail. Will his name being on this list stop him from being promoted and with what consequences? This page turner is hard to put down as Baker keeps the reader guessing who dun’ it.
While you are waiting for The Whisper Network, Save Me From Dangerous Men by S.A. Lelchuk will keep you busy. Nikki Griffin is a PI who helps women who are hurt or abused by the men in their lives. Nikki doesn’t just help them, she make sure those men know what it feels like to be hurt and feel helpless, that is until a case goes terribly wrong. Suddenly she is fighting for her own life. Another great book to try is Last Woman Standing by Amy Gentry. Dana Diez is a standup comedian and Amanda Dorn is a computer programmer. They form a friendship when they bond over the struggles of being a woman in a male dominated profession. When Dana reveals that she has recently been harassed, they hatch a plan to go after each other’s assailants. This revenge scheme takes a turn for the worse and leaves Dana wondering what this vengeance will cost.
The Warehouse by Rob Hart is about an employee of a giant tech company called Cloud. Paxton feels safe and lucky to be working for Cloud until he meets Zinnia, who is undercover to infiltrate Cloud and uncover the company’s deep dark secrets. The Warehouse is a near-future thriller about what happens when Big Brother meets Big Business--and who will pay the ultimate price” (Goodreads). Does a good story about the dark side of humanity appeal to you? The novel Asymmetry has got just the thing for you. It is three parts. The first explores a young girl’s coming of age. Part two is an Iraqi-American who is detained by immigration on his way back into the United States. Part three is the overlap of their stories and perspectives that define their relationship with each other and the world around them “Asymmetry explores the imbalances that spark and sustain many of our most dramatic human relations: inequities in age, power, talent, wealth, fame, geography and justice” (Goodreads).
