Sen. Curt VanderWall (R-Ludington) approves of the Michigan Strategic Fund's (MSF) decision to approve a $3.47 million Community Development Block Grant for the village of Kalkaska.
The community requested the grant so they could make much-needed improvements at the Railroad Square project site. According to a press release issued by VanderWall, the grant will support the creation of an information center, multipurpose pavilion, food truck court and other amenities. The project is the community's proactive effort to eliminate a contaminated brownfield site.
“This is great news for Kalkaska,” VanderWall said in a press release.
Vanderwall attended the grant announcement last month.
“Thanks to the generous support of the Michigan Strategic Fund, this grant will help change the face of downtown Kalkaska and make it that much more of an enjoyable place to live, work and visit. I appreciate the MSF’s continued commitment to investing in our state’s rural communities,” VanderWall said.
