Rockford Public Schools issued the following announcement on July 29.
The Board of Education conducted interviews for the position of trustee on Wednesday, July 28, to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Postema’s recent resignation.
The Board received 17 applications for the position and narrowed the field to eight applicants. Two applicants withdrew, resulting in six interviews being conducted and the Board’s unanimous appointment of Andrea Jacobson to complete Mr. Postema’s term.
Mrs. Jacobson and her husband moved to Rockford in 2004 and have one son who will start middle school this fall. While her son attended Lakes Elementary, she was involved with the Lakes PTO Board, holding officer positions the past two years. She has been employed as a litigation paralegal for the past 21 years.
“As part of my vision for Rockford Public Schools, I want to see it continue its tradition of excellence in education while also providing a caring, supportive school environment for our students and their families with open communication,” stated Mrs. Jacobson in her application for the position. “This is an exciting time as we come out of a pandemic and prepare for the coming school year while also undertaking a search for a new Superintendent…I would value being part of this journey as Rockford Public Schools looks to the future and continues to provide an excellent education and safe environment to its students.”
Mrs. Jacobson’s appointment runs through December 31, 2022, and she will have the opportunity to seek election to a four-year term on the November 2022 ballot.
