KENT COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: 1 in 5 kids in West Michigan are affected by hunger

Kent County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Nov. 22.

1 in 5 kids in West Michigan are affected by hunger. Thankfully, one local organization is stepping up to help. Kids' Food Basket provides take home meals to over 8,000 students each week day. These meals are sent home with students in a decorated paper sack.

Countless organizations, including schools, daycares, and churches have donated decorated paper sacks to Kids Food Basket. Many of these paper sacks include inspirational messages and colorfully designed artwork.

We are so grateful for the work that Kids Food Basket is doing for students in Kent County that we recently partnered with them. We invited our officers and their families and those who are currently incarcerated in our Correctional Facility to spread the love and decorate a paper sack.

We are inviting you to help us support an amazing organization! With the cold weather setting in, decorating paper sacks is a perfect family craft on a snowy afternoon. The impact that you and your family will have on students in our community will be immeasurable.

Visit https://www.kidsfoodbasket.org/opportunities/bag-decorating/ for the decorating details. And while there, check out many other volunteer opportunities!
