City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Feb 1.
In anticipation of the possible snow we may receive this week, we wanted to give residents a few friendly winter weather reminders.
- There is no on-street parking allowed in the city limits from 2am-6am.
- Please do not place trash receptacles in the street. Doing this makes it difficult for crews to plow the whole street.
- Sidewalks in front of homes and businesses need to be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours of the snow ceasing to fall.
- When clearing snow from sidewalks or driveways, please do not push snow into the street.
- Please help our firefighters and clear snow from the area around fire hydrants. In an emergency every second counts.
- Please don't allow children to play in the piles of snow by the street. Snow removal operations can be in effect at any time during the winter, passing snowplows could hit the pile injuring children inside.
