From January 2, 2023 post.

A dog is a dog.

It's a dogs fundamental nature to act like a dog. The same way it is our fundamental nature to act like a human.

Oftentimes we forgot this most basic of biological truths when training. We allow our frustrations to overflow when the dog doesn't understand what we precived to be a basic task. We raise our voices and fling our arms around. We use to many words to convey a want.

Dogs will always act like dogs. They can be smart, loving, stubborn, silly and many times courageous. But we must not hold them to an impossibly high cognitive standard for learning, nor must we drop so low as not to teach and bring out the best in them.
